My Project

I'm a special education teacher serving students with moderate to severe disabilities struggle with emotional regulation. I'm planning to use iPads loaded with calming apps to teach them to respond to the ongoing demands and rigors of school, relationships, and challenges in a safe and effective manner.

After using the iPads to demonstrate how to use the calming apps, I will set up a calming area that students may access them as needed.

Students will use the calming area when they are feeling stressed or anxious. The calming area will promote self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management. This will build resilience and promote wellness.
