Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our class is creating a calming area in the classroom to promote our class as a welcoming safe place to learn. The calming area is a useful strategy to teach self-management. It will help students process an experience or de-escalate when they are having a difficult time. Students struggle to learn if they are not in the right state of mind such as using headphones to hear calming music. This area promotes self-care which improves the chances for a student to be successful in school. The sooner we teach students to express themselves, the better off they will be. The items requested such as beanbag seats, calming and sensory toys, and calming kits will aid my classroom.
