This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is in need of a calming area equipped with the things they need to be able to manage difficult emotions and de-escalate when having a challenging time. I will be able to utilize games, books, and various activities to assist in teaching students how to calm down and regulate their emotions.

Students in my school are mostly low-income, which make them vulnerable to experiencing high risk experiences in their community.

Many times students experience trauma and having a space where they can calm down and learn coping techniques, can help improve academic success!
