My Project

These resources will be used in the counseling office at our elementary school. Many of our students experience interpersonal trauma as well as frequent exposure to community violence. We see the impact of these stressors play out throughout the school day. Students have difficulty regulating their emotions resulting in learning loss and classroom disruptions. Our students deserve a space that promotes healing and allows them to relax so they can be the best learners possible. This calm area will directly address the need for a restorative approach to behavior dysregulation on campus. I believe this space will improve school climate, reduce out of classroom time/eloping, and increase school connectedness.
