Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a psychiatric social wporker, mental health and wellness is a priority in every interaction with students. The communities that I support are in need of a safe, calm, quiet space for students to be able to learn about their emotions and express them in a healthy, productive way. A calming corner with seating, building tiles, and other games is needed in my classroom to increase student feeling identification to help them grow into confident students.

The items I am asking for help students in breathing, feeling identification, and connection.

Many students do not understand their anger and feel alone. The books are going to normalize emotions and give students an opportunity to connect. Emotion dysregulation effects students ability to connect with peers and being in a safe space allows them to problem solve to increase social emotional intelligence. Students can use the space to color, sit, and reflect.
