Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are only 4 and 5 years old, yet they experience a lot of strong emotions throughout the day at school. I am amazed every day at how much they are learning not only in reading and math, but in their social emotional learning. They have been learning to pause and breathe when they encounter strong feelings, and I've seen some of them putting this into practice.

Having the books, Magna-Tiles, calming tools, and teepee would be a great asset in the classroom to help my students have a place in the classroom when they need to have a safe place to calm down and de-escalate.

The teepee, rug, and pillows will be an inviting place for students to go to if they need to get their feelings under control.

The other resources are great tools for my students to continue in their social emotional learning and in teaching them how to de-escalate and take control of their emotions. Having access to a calm corner in the classroom would help them achieve this goal.
