Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Often times students need a calming space to reflect on their underlying needs. In order to ensure the success of all students. I want students have a safe and calm space where they can learn self-management. Students will be able to come into a calm space and find bean bag chairs to provide a sense of sensory and relaxation. The rug will be available depending on students sensory need where a harder surface may be a better option. Store bins will be placed in the calming area with sensory tools, books, and skill building activities.

Providing a place with a sense of security will create a safe environment amongst the school community.

My goal is for students to succeed academically, but also with emotional resilience to overcome barriers that children may encounter at a young age or even throughout adulthood. Overall, I want students to know they have a safe and calm place to go.
