My Project

All of my students try hard and do their best. However, sometimes it's not easy. Learning to read, write, and solve math problems can be frustrating for some of our kiddos. I want to help my students build mindfulness skills and learn ways to de-escalate. Having a calming area with relaxing, sensory activities will help them do just that. Students can sit in a comfy beanbag chair or choose a wobble stool to get their wiggles out. Students can come to the cozy corner and choose a book from the rustic bookshelf full of mindful books, old favorites, journals, or paper for drawing. Here they can build their skills by engaging in mindful activities like journaling, drawing, and breathing.

When it gets to be too much or if my students just need a break, this calming area will be just the place to help them calm themselves, take a moment to be mindful, breathe and get ready for the next challenge.
