Calm Reading Nook

Help me give my students a proper reading/calm down corner. These shelves and bins will help make it organized and easy for them to access their favorite books.

My Project

I work in the special education department in the Madill School District. More specifically I work with students with autism. Many of my students struggle with reading, are significantly behind their neurotypical peers, and get visibly stressed when working of their reading goals.

I want to make a calm space where they will learn to enjoy reading.

Reading is a vital skill needed to be self sufficient and they work hard every day to become more independent everyday.

These shelves will allow their favorite books to be at their level. This will make it much easier for them to reach for that prefered book when its time to practice. The different colored bins will help me and them sort our books by reading level. I plan on putting colored stickers on the classroom books so students can larn to maintain their reading area. For example, every book with a red sticker will go in the red bin.

Any help provided will be greatly appreciated by myself and all my students so thank you in advance!
