Help me give my students calm down kits. I plan to teach students how to use the items in the kit to regulate their emotions to maximize achievement.

My Project

I am the school counselor for PK-5 students housed at 2 buildings. I have had an abundance of student self-referrals for individual counseling. Students are struggling with learning about their emotions and how to self-regulate.

These Calm Down Kits will help provide students tools to use when their emotions get too big and interrupt learning.

If used correctly, students will learn to manage their emotions while staying in the classroom. This will maximize their learning time and achievement.

The sensory items in the kit each hold a purpose. The idea is for students to identify the emotion they are feeling and choose the best tool for them to manage it.
