Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love how each of my K-2 ASD students brings a unique perspective and energy to the classroom. Their creativity, curiosity, and individual ways of experiencing the world make them special. Watching them grow, overcome challenges, and develop new skills is truly rewarding.

I plan to put the flexible seating, timers and other resources in a calming corner to provide my students with the sensory support they need to self-regulate, reducing stress and anxiety.

By incorporating materials like the bean bags and rug that cater to different sensory needs, such as soft textures, calming colors, and quiet spaces, these resources will help my students feel more comfortable and safer. This project will allow them to better focus on their learning, improve social interactions, and foster emotional regulation. Ultimately, the calming corner will become a space where they can recharge, helping them stay engaged and ready to learn in the classroom. The timer, glue sticks, Play-Doh and other supplies will be used by students for their assignments.
