This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Ms. Denson, and I am a special education teacher at a Title I elementary school in New York City dedicated to providing rigorous education to all students, but especially those from diverse backgrounds. Today, I am reaching out with a request to support a transformative project that will greatly benefit my exceptional students.

In my classroom, I have the privilege of working with remarkable students who face unique challenges daily.

These extraordinary young minds have been diagnosed with various differing learning abilities including: autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more. While they possess incredible potential, they require additional support to thrive in their academic journey.

My vision is to create a tranquil, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that fosters social-emotional growth alongside academic development. To achieve this, I am requesting your generous support in acquiring much-needed Social-Emotional Skills materials to create a cozy, calm corner for my students to decompress and explore their emotions.

The cozy and calm corner will provide a safe and stimulating space for students to explore their senses, emotions, and creativity. These resources will help our learners with sensory processing difficulties, allowing them to regulate their emotions and focus on learning effectively. It will offer a calming sanctuary for those who may feel overwhelmed in a traditional classroom setting.

As a Title I school, our resources are limited, making it challenging to provide all the support our students deserve. With your compassionate contribution, we can create a positive and empowering environment where every child can feel understood, valued, and ready to learn.
