My Students

My students are so caring and joyful. They come with so many hardships, especially after COVID, but they come to the classroom so open to building community with each other. One student in particular was so surprised and happy that I wasn't mad at him for falling asleep in class the other day. We all have bad days! Giving students grace has showed them how to give grace to others as well.

My Project

Students will be reviewing basic arithmetic with the games I selected. They will get visual and tactile tools to help them learn fraction equivalence and negative integers. I will provide many, if not most, low-income students with school supplies. They will have the chance to go to the Calm Corner if they are dealing with difficult emotions. In the calm corner, they can color in the coloring books, stretch, or do breathing exercises. I chose coloring books and materials that relate to Hawaiian and Marshallese identities since those are a few of the demographics our students represent.
