This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In our vibrant classroom, every day is an opportunity to nurture not just young minds but young hearts. The resources I’m seeking create a calming, supportive environment for emotional growth and will provide my first graders with tools to recognize and regulate their emotions, develop empathy, and build meaningful connections. These are skills they’ll carry with them for a lifetime, far beyond the walls of our classroom. My students are my inspiration, my joy, and my drive to be better every single day. I have the privilege of teaching an energetic and curious group of first graders, ages 6-7, in the South Bronx. Many of them face challenges outside of school, but when they walk through our classroom door, I see their potential shine brighter than any obstacle they encounter.

These children are a bundle of energy, filled with laughter, questions, and dreams.

These children are a ball of energy full of laughter, questions, and dreams. They remind me daily that the first grade is a time of incredible growth, not just academically but emotionally. At this age, they're learning how to navigate big feelings, share, take turns, and handle the ups and downs of being a kid. In our community, learning how to deal with emotions isn’t just important it’s essential. My goal is to create a safe, nurturing space where my students can feel seen, heard, and supported. I want to equip them with tools and strategies to grow into resilient, compassionate individuals who can flourish both in and out of school. Your support can make a world of difference for these amazing kids. Together, we can help them build a foundation of emotional intelligence that will guide them for years to come.
