My Students

The students at my elementary school are learning to be future leaders. 100% of the students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch at school. During the past year and half, many of the students have experienced significant challenges like death of family members due to COVID-19 or deployment of parents to assist refugees in Afghanistan.

My students will one day be productive workers, responsible citizens, life-long learners, and community leaders.

As the school counselor, I have the pleasure of talking to all the students about their future. The students get very excited when discussing what they will do in the future. They do not see their challenges or hardships as obstacles to obtaining their future careers. They are hopeful. They are positive. They are visionaries.

My Project

School counselors help students with social and emotional issues that can become barriers to students' academic success.

I am requesting books and calming items which students will use to learn about their feelings, positively manage stress, and overcome barriers they face to live happy, healthy, and productive lives in our community.

School counselors often serve as a first line of defense in identifying and addressing student social and emotional needs of students. Nevada subject standards addressed Health 1.5.3, 2.5.1, and 4.5.5. American School Counselor Association (ASCA) student standards addressed Self-Management B-SMS1, B-SMS2, B-SMS6, B-SMS7, and B-SMS10.
