My Project

Our project is to create a welcoming, safe, calming corner in our resource room setting, to reset and regulate our emotions. Every student encounters a time when they experience stressful situations. They don't always have the necessary means to work through these times. These emotions can escalate without self-regulation skills and a safe place to go. Students can go to the calming corner and utilize the strategically chosen items that will help their stress.

Our calming corner will assist in teaching students strategies and skills to self-regulate so they may return to learning in a positive, relaxed state of mind.

This practice will lead to more productive students with increased positive, supportive classroom interactions. They will become independently able to self-regulate when they need to access the corner.
