Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 3 & 4 years old and have various disabilities that have made them eligible for a special day classroom at such an early age. The students in my class have autism, orthopedic impairments, and speech delay.

Given that their communication abilities are limited, often times they become frustrated and overwhelmed with big emotions!

My students know that they are able to go to the calming corner whenever they need a bit of time to themselves.

Our calming corner currently consists of pillows, a mat, and some sensory toys. However the items in this project can take our calming corner to the next level and make it more welcoming as well as provide them with more ways to soothe or regulate their big feelings.
