Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I would like to create a creative calming classroom for my students. This year has been somewhat active for many of my students and they need space as well as ways to recenter or calm down.

We have an area that I would like to dedicate to just this activity for when they need to calm down when anxious or overwhelmed, but there is nothing there to assist them in this endeavor at the moment.

I am looking to help them self-regulate with various means like stereo headphones, coloring murals, fidget toys, and stretch balls. Some may just need a minute to refocus and that can be done in class.

The goal is to help all our students self monitor and focus this year and in turn have it show in their success both personally and in class.

Elementary students need to be shown how to do react to stress in an appropriate manner.
