Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Children living in the city may find it difficult to incorporate fresh fruits and vegetables into their diets, not to mention go out to a farm to see how produce is grown.

I work in a Title 1 school located in an urban area in New York City.

I would love to create an organic school garden with the students in my school. If given the chance to grow a garden, students will learn how to grow fruits and vegetables and then incorporate them into their daily lives.

My Project

This project, together with your help and “FEED USA,” will create many hands-on learning opportunities for the students in our school community. Some things that students will learn include: the importance of organic gardening, why fresh organic fruits and vegetables are important in our diets, how to make healthy food choices, how fruits and vegetables are grown, and what plants need in order to survive. Students will also be able to eat fresh fruits and vegetables directly from their very own garden!

I hope we are given the opportunity to plant a school garden.

This project will not only benefit our students by teaching them how to grow organic produce and eating well, but will also help the neighborhood as well.
