Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My first graders always walk in with smiles on their faces, ready to learn. They always strive for academic readiness no matter what the situation is.

This pandemic with COVID-19 has caused an enormous amount of social emotional stress on my students and parents.

My students come from a very low socio-economic area, with very few resources to engage them in learning. The students that make up my classroom are 99% low income and at risk for dropping out before finishing high-school.

I want to build a stress free foundation in my classroom, so when they leave my classroom they are motivated and excited about learning. I want them to carry the passion of learning with them forever. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.

My Project

My Project will provide hygiene products such as a toothbrush kits, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, lotion, lip balm, baby wipes and hair products for them to use on daily basis. Most of my student's come from a low income household which sometimes it makes it difficult to buy hygiene products.

The baby wipes will be used after eating breakfast and lunch.

They will clean their little faces and hands without having an irritation.

Many of my students come to school with dry, chapped skin and lips daily. They frequently ask me for lotion especially my students with Eczema. This project is also going to help my students that have very sensitive skin and eczema.

I want to be able to provide good hygiene so my students won't fear of others making fun of them because of their looks or hygiene. I want them to have a good self-esteem and feel comfortable around others when they come to school.

I will teach them about personal hygiene through Brain Pop and educational videos and have personal discussions among my students. Once I teach about personal hygiene every student will get their own hygiene bag to take home with a note explaining to the parents why they are receiving it.
