My Project

One might think that elementary students are willing to express themselves through performance art. I sure did! Many of my students possess the "It factor".

Did you know that bringing theater into the classroom can make students nervous?

I was shocked at my "star" students when they shied away from being silly on cue. It's not that my students are uncomfortable with being seen, I think they are uncomfortable with the unknown!

My students have shown me that incentivizing challenge will remove their anxiety. Flashy awards and bright colors will help them see that studying theater arts can be inviting and exciting. I want my students to become comfortable in the face of uncertainty. It is my job to cultivate a safe and effective theater environment. These tools will show my students that I am thinking of them and that they are supported on their journey in performance art.
