Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Our students learn best by doing. In other words, students will learn best by trying to make sense of something on their own with the teacher as a guide to help them along the way.
Many of our students are English language learners.
One of the best techniques educators can use to help these students master science concepts is to provide examples of real, relevant, hands-on science materials and equipment.
Our student population is 92.6% socioeconomically disadvantaged and 39.1% are English learners.
My Project
Our students will report biodiversity levels by observing plants and animals using iNatualist and Seek apps.
We are currently, trying to establish a California Native Plant Garden on campus to help fight colony collapse disorder due to urban sprawl.
We are also hoping that the California Native Plant Garden will increase biodiversity, help support pollinators and beautify our campus.
We currently have 6, 4 X 8 raised beds where we grow seasonal fruits and vegetables. We also have 12, 50 gallon rain barrels and 3 composters.
Planting native plants helps bring back pollinators and other beneficial insects.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
