Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students will explore a California native plant garden (on our school campus) and learn more about the life cycle of a butterfly. They will gain a better understanding of how important camouflage and adaptive methods are for survival. They will understand how genetic variation of offspring contributes to population control in an environment and that natural selection ensures that those who are best adapted to their surroundings survive to reproduce.

Students will collect quantitative and qualitative data in their interactive science journals, as well as photographic evidence.

In teams of four, students will discuss their findings in class.

By donating to this project not only will you be providing valuable hands-on materials, but you will also provide my students with an opportunity to care for a living thing, develop empathy, and support their social emotional learning.
