Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students this year love a good challenge, are highly motivated, and eager to learn. They creatively think outside the box, and love to test their hypotheses.

My students come to class ready to solve a problem that seems impossible.

They have already risen to many challenges this year. They have shown that they are willing and able to persevere.

There is no better reward than the pride I can see growing in them each time that they conquer a challenge.

I have many students with learning disabilities, and memorizing the multiplication table, or the rules for computation with fractions and decimals is a blockade for them.

My Project

My students who cannot afford to purchase calculators will have access to technology that will help them delve into more difficult problem solving.

I am asking for TI-34 calculators.

This will help my students by enabling them to get past the computation blockade and explore their ideas.

I chose this calculator specifically because it of it's user-friendly interface from "math-print". It makes computation with fraction and exponents much more simple by displaying it accurately.

Many of my students get frustrated by computation, and it stops them from exploring their ideas. This technology will help them try whatever creative strategy they can come up with and test its validity.
