My students need calculators for success in math class. These specific calculators will help them with basic manipulation so that I can teach them more concepts to be successful.

My Students

I teach in a small, rural school district in Michigan's upper peninsula. My students are hard workers who are dedicated to their school work and their community. most of my students are looking for a path to career readiness.

I teach math at the middle and high school level so I witness their growth and development both academically and socially.

In fact, our whole staff works very hard to help our students excel in their academic endeavors, but we need more resources to help them be successful in the pursuits beyond school.

My Project

My students come from an economically disadvantaged area. Many of them score below the state average in reading and math. While the struggle, they are also hard workers who need the tools to be more successful.

Having these calculators will help them achieve more academically, which will, in turn, build their positive self-worth and outlook on the future.

I know from past experiences, that giving students the tools they need to be successful makes for a positive learning environment which them promotes a love of learning. I want my students to learn to love math as much as I do and getting these calculators is a step in the right direction.
