This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my school, students choose to sacrifice many clubs, sports, band, and other benefits that a large high school can provide to focus on earning an Associate degree. However, it is not an easy journey because many of them are the first in their family to have a chance to go to college, 80% of them are on a reduced lunch, and are enrolled in almost all Pre-AP and AP courses.

They are also not necessary the top tier students that can easily make A's in every class, but are willing to work hard just as everyone else so they will be the first in their family to go to college.

My Project

The main purpose of this project is to lend calculators to students who are unable to purchase their own graphing calculator in the classroom due to whatever reason they have. In my classroom, physics is a difficult subject to grasp and understand. Many of the equations are modeled after real world applications and projects that I assign in class to provide a hands-on approach. As a result, they are never simple and easy calculations that can be done by hand.

After all, in the real world it is never easy.

With these calculators, they can calculate the velocity of their moustrap cars after traveling a certain distance of the the time needed for their pinewood car to finish the track.
