My Students

Students in fifth grade work with all types of numbers. From hundred billions to thousandths. Calculators will improve their mathematical accuracy. Having a reliable calculator will also allow students to check their work.

I have 27 fifth grade students who have wide range of mathematical abilities.

They are hard working group from various socioeconomic backgrounds. We live in a suburban area. Our area has moderately affected by the economic climate and I feel unable to ask students to provide their own calculator for school purposes.

My Project

With our fifth grade core objectives our students are required to work with numbers that range from hundred billions to thousandths. I am requesting Texas Instrument TI-15 calculators because they are a really nice introduction to scientific and graphing calculators. The students can work with fractions, positive and negative numbers,as well as, regular fifth grade mathematical skills.

This is my first year teaching fifth grade and our classroom has only 5 calculators that were purchased from a dollar store.

We would like more reliable scientific calculators to help improve student's skills and accuracy.
