My Project

In our self contained special education classroom, our students don't get many opportunities to connect with other adults or teachers. In November of 2021, Cafe Angelou was founded. We named it after our cohort name , Maya Angelou. It is a student operated coffee cart that services our hallways each Wednesday morning. The coffee cart helps our students with their communication skills and their money skills as well. For the first few months we have only served to teachers but now we are feeling confident to move our business to students as well! We have been growing and working hard and now have decided that it is time to expand our operation from a cart to a table.

With your help, our students will have the resources necessary to run a successful coffee cart.

We have instated various jobs for each student including managers, baristas and cashiers. This not only helps with their communication skills, but also gives them relevant job training that they can use in the future. It would mean the world to the students if we could get our project funded!
