My Students

My students are an exciting group of middle school kids who have autism. We are a very diverse classroom in an urban setting with limited resources. We believe autism is just another way of learning and processing the world around us. My students are in grades 6 to 8.

My students are eager to learn and explore the world around them.

Our goal is to be functional members of our school community and society. We are always involved in activities around the school. Sometimes processing the stimuli around us becomes challenging. However, once we are given the opportunities to engage in sensory-enticing activities we are able to express ourselves more easily.

My Project

If my students were given these materials, then they would be able to run their very own coffee cart. They will be able to develop their social skills by greeting their customers and completing the transactions appropriately. Also, will learn how to properly make coffee and tea. In addition, they will learn how to do inventory, count money, and budget.

This project will be to allow my students to play a vital part in our school community.

They will increase the overall school morale throughout the building. Also, they will take ownership of their store. Eventually, they will run the entire operation independently. Please make Cafe 108 a reality!
