My Students

I teach eighth-grade science in a small, rural Tennessee town. We are in a high-poverty area, and many of my students do not always have the same opportunities as students in urban areas.

Creating the ideal classroom environment is critical to academic success.

My students are inquisitive, eager to learn, and love new challenges! Our new curriculum is project-based and enables all students to work independently through the required work. Progress is monitored through checkpoints, and students can easily see how they are progressing through their 8th-grade work.

As a teacher, it is my responsibility to expand my students' horizons. Providing them with activities that stretch their brains and provide them with a challenge will motivate and engage my students.

My Project

Cool! A Wave Machine kit! My students were excited when this arrived. Now we are studying waves and I pulled out the kit to get it ready for the students. Unfortunately, I need C-Clamps to enable my students to use this kit properly.

Please help my students to receive these C-Clamps so that I can challenge them to use this kit to create a wave machine that will enable them to see how waves move and act.

They will be using the engineering process to create prototypes, test them and make refinements. All of these skills, combined with learning about wave properties are part of our Tennessee Science Standards.
