My Students

Have you ever been in a book club? The students in my class participate in book clubs just like grown ups. They all read the same text and then get together and discuss what they have read. This year my students are participating in mystery book clubs.

My 4th grade students vary in ability.

This year I have some students reading above grade level. This is a challenge since in the past I have not had students who needed books that are this difficult. I now do not have the right materials to facilitate mystery book clubs. In order to provide them with appropriate books at their level I need your help.

My Project

We will be participating in mystery book clubs. The children get to get goals for their reading and discuss what they have read. They use post its to collect ideas and then grow them when they meet and talk just like adults do in their book clubs. Being in clubs teaches my students reading skills, speaking skills and responsibility. It also helps them to build their cooperation skills.

Please help us to have book clubs this year.

It always makes children feel good to have new books that are of interest to them to read. These books can be used this year and for future students in my fourth grade classroom.
