This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Trenton, New Jersey is a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to our area with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and nonnative to the area, struggle to meet basic needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to make sure they have a school filled with both essential items that they can access at any time and exciting extracurricular opportunities. Their social/emotional well-being depends on knowing that they have engaging extracurricular opportunities that learners of any cultural background can enjoy!
The button-ups I am requesting will provide the young boys in our Brotherhood Mentorship group with an opportunity to practice etiquette when in formal settings; this is part of a larger project to empower young men in our district.
These shirts will go a long way in ensuring our boys have exciting learning opportunities that support their mental health. I am requesting these shirts for these boys to wear in formal settings such as a date night practice event, a boys mentorship day, and more. They will learn about how to be proper gentlemen, uplifting them as they learn the value of confidence and personal accountability.
