At this point, our school is doing distant learning only. Students are able to access curriculum both online and through packets that were mailed. Students never had a chance to say good bye to their classmates or their teacher before the pandemic occurred.
Our last day was Friday March 13th, it was a half day, and the kids left like any other half day, only this time we are still waiting for normalcy and school to start back up- All this happened with no warning for our kids.
We have good contact with families, and are able to provide meals, and necessitates our families may need, which we are so grateful for. This project is intended for their emotional well-being and so they can have something to look forward and know there is always hope.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in my students learning from home. This project will provide my students the opportunity to learn about life cycles while watching it happen in real life. Curriculum is being prepared now for the life cycle unit we teach in the spring. Usually, as a class, students get to experience the transformation from caterpillar to butterfly.
Having a caterpillar kit of their own will give my students an incredible learning experience from the comfort and safety of their home.
Butterflies give us hope, please help give my students hope, fun, amazement and the knowledge that life will go on as they watch these caterpillars become beautiful butterflies in these scary and uncertain times.
