My Project

I am asking for manipulatives like pony beads, magnetic chips and wands and letter tiles for my students to use during centers. I encourage my students to work together at centers to meet a common goal. One way to do that is through butcher paper activities. The students work together to meet a common goal while practicing fine motor activities or literacy/math activities. The students are learning and building skills while having fun. Last year, butcher paper activities were the most popular center, oftentimes, students chose to get the butcher paper center back out at choice time.

Kindergarten should be both fun and educational.

These materials would help me provide my students with activities that are both. For example, the letter tiles will be used for a seasonal letter sort. In August, the butcher paper will have a large palm tree, that one might see in Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. The students will work together to match the letter tiles to the letters on the palm tree. In October, students will work together to create a spider web using the pony beads. In November students will work together on a shared art project by using the cookie cutters to make prints on butcher paper. They will get to experience what happens when colors and shapes mix together.

These activities will provide my students with fun and engaging learning activities.
