Help Ms. Bradley

I teach K-6 music in Western New York. I am a part-time music teacher in two buildings, both of which already have full-time music teachers.

As a teacher who is in several buildings, it is necessary to share the limited musical instruments available to both teachers. I find that my students are lacking the musical experience they deserve because I do not have the necessary materials of my own to allow them to truly appreciate their own musical creativity.

Instruments are an essential part of music education. Younger students are able to perfect their gross motor skills, while older students create simple melodies and ostinatos, and learn to be part of a musical community. Instruments can help teach respect through proper technique and performance etiquette. Finally, the opportunity to play instruments, simply makes music fun. A bass metallophone, some mallets with which to play, and music selections to play are needed to help make these things possible.

Your help will ensure that my students will be life-long music lovers and perhaps even encourage one (or several) to make a career of music, either as a performer or as an educator.
