This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Does bullying begin in Kindergarten? I believe it does in a simple form with "I'm not your friend" or "He/She took my pencil."

My students live in a low-income neighborhood.

Some mornings when we arrive at school we see graffiti on the walls. Our classroom is our home for 6 hours each day. Some of my students stay at school for 11 hours because their parents work long hours. I remind my students that we have to take care of our classroom and treat each other with respect. I tell them to use their words when dealing with a classmate who is being mean to them.

My Project

Anti- Bullying read alouds are an essential need in my classroom. I want my students to hear stories that deal with bullying. Some of my students may experience some of these bullying situations in school or at home and not even know it. They might think it's how they are suppose to be treated. I want students to act out scenarios on how to deal with a bully. Students will be able to record each other with a camera and build their self confidence to deal with a bully anywhere. The drying rack will help with their artwork. Students can express how they feel through visual arts.

I believe anti-bullying lessons should begin in kindergarten.

Kindergarteners may not realize that taking another student's belongings, hitting someone, or not sharing can be a form of bullying. If students learn how to deal with bullying situations in kindergarten, then they will experience less bullying in their elementary career. I want my students' self-esteem to build so they can deal with any bully situations.
