My Students

Many students are not aware that they are being bullied; others are not aware that they are doing the bullying. I want my students to fully understand the meaning of bullying and the effects of bullying on others.

I teach in an public elementary school that is filled with enthusiastic teachers and learners!

Currently, I teach 49 fantastic fourth graders. All of the students are very eager to learn. Socially, fourth grade can be a tough grade level. Students sometimes struggle trying to be accepted by their peers. I want to build a classroom environment where all students are comfortable while learning.

My Project

It is very important to build a Bully-Free Classroom where students are more concerned about the content being taught than about unkind words or actions of others. With the book, Bullying in Schools by Townsend Press, I would like to read and open a class discussion on bullying and the effects that it can have on individuals. I want to educate them on being bullied or being a bully. Sometimes children do not realize that they may be bullying others. Students will then extend upon the lesson by spreading the word to others in the school. My students can make posters to place around the school to help combat bullying. They will use the printer to print self-made flyers and any other information needed to help make posters. Our school is fortunate enough to have three copier/printers in the school. Students would usually have to wait until I retrieve print outs or walk down to the printer in pairs. A classroom printer will give the students immediate access to their information.

Having this project fully funded will help my students improve their awareness of bullying and improve their communication skills.

Most importantly, funding this project will increase their success in school and change their lives.
