My Students

My students are from the Main South area of Worcester. Our school is in the Top 5% of the most diverse public schools in Massachusetts. Additionally, 57% of students’ first language is not English. 61% of students are economically disadvantaged and 19% of students receive special education services.

Our students deserve a school environment that match their personalities: Vibrant, Energetic, and Bright.

They have spent a full year behind a computer screen, overcoming every obstacle thrown their way. They come from different backgrounds but they are united in their desire to achieve great things in and out of the classroom.

My Project

For years, Sullivan has been a low-performing school. We are currently following a Turnaround Plan that will undoubtedly produce sustainable gains in our Academic Achievement. The goal of this project is to help transform our school’s physical environment, optimizing student Morale, Motivation, and Learning. 900 students move through our hallways everyday, making our walls prime real estate that can be used to stimulate and build upon their learning.

Our hallways just received a fresh coat of paint, old posters were taken down, and our walls are now a blank canvas!

With the addition of Bulletin Boards in our hallways, we will display outstanding student work, advertise school dances and athletics, and support students' social & emotional needs through interactive character development displays. Students & staff will come together to decorate each bulletin board, creating an environment that is inspiring and builds a strong sense of school community.

Our budget includes one large, 48x96 board that will be displayed in our cafeteria. This will serve as a central place for announcements and connection to community resources. There are four, 2x3 boards for outside each Guidance Counselor's office door. The remaining 8 bulletin boards will be hung in the hallways throughout the building. Also included in the budget, are the basic materials needed to decorate each bulletin board so that staff do not need to pay out of their own pockets.
