Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach approximately 90 enthusiastic fourth graders at a public school just north of Boston. Many of my students come from low-income households and often lack access to musical instruments and creative materials that spark engagement both in and out of the classroom. Without these opportunities, it's been challenging to keep students motivated and to reward those who consistently set a positive example for their peers.

I am seeking support to provide 25 build-your-own ukulele kits for a special hands-on workshop led by myself and our art teacher.

This workshop will serve as both a character-building experience and a creative outlet, allowing students to design, build, and personalize their own ukuleles—an instrument they can cherish and continue to play for years to come.

Your generosity will not only recognize and reward students who have demonstrated leadership and perseverance, but it will also provide them with a lifelong connection to music. With your help, these students will take home a unique, handcrafted ukulele—something they can be proud of and inspired by.
