My Project

As a primary grade teacher, I am always looking for ways to engage my students in deeper mathematical thinking and conversations. In the book "Building Thinking Classrooms in Mathematical" by Peter Liljedahl, the author explains how to implement 14 optimal practices for thinking that create an ideal setting for deep mathematics learning to occur.

A thinking student is an engaged student.

According to Peter Liljedahl's research, students are most engaged when they are standing and working on vertical non-permanent surfaces (VNPSs) such as whiteboards. To enhance the learning experience for my students, I am planning to provide them with dry-erase surfaces and markers. This will allow them to easily jot down their ideas, articulate their thought process, and make changes if needed. I am in need of the necessary materials to create the vertical surface for my students. The dry-erase posterboards will be affixed to the walls, while the easels will be utilized to display whiteboards throughout the room, as wall space is limited.

In the classroom, I aim to foster meaningful discussions about math and keep my students actively engaged. Your support for my project would be greatly appreciated.
