My Project

I have 17 intelligent, curious, and funny 5-year-old transitional kindergarten students. The curated items on this wish list will make our classroom calm corner more welcoming and further support my students in learning to regulate their emotions at this critical age.

The lights, rugs, pillow, feelings chart will furnish our calm corner to make it a comfortable sanctuary for my students to calm themselves; the breathing ball, sensory toys, lava lamp, LEGO, clipboards and light table will be used and rotated appropriately to give my students multiple avenues to settle down, collect their thoughts and effectively manage their emotions.

The social emotional literature will supplement our regular curriculum and be displayed in the calm corner, so that my students have multiple opportunities to have social emotional discussions with their peers and revisit the concepts on their own time, when they are in the calm corner.
