My Project

My school is always looking for ways to help bolster student achievement. Our school population is culturally diverse and our classes have learners at many different levels. In trying to improve student outcomes, we are implementing a new idea in scheduling and grouping students next year. Where teams have been looping between fourth and fifth grades, we are now going to be teaching both grades in the same year allowing for flexible grouping and longer blocks of teaching time followed by time for intervention.

I am excited about what could be a ground breaking idea that we're implementing, and want to start building community between the two sets of students on day one.

It is important that the new group feels welcomed and comfortable in our new system. The items in this project will help me to accomplish that. The picture books speak specifically about belonging, being yourself and being proud of who you are. The professional books in this project will help me address the gaps in learning that we see each year. In addition, this group of students went through COVID and virtual learning during their foundational years and I want to make sure that those foundational skills are solid and in place.
