Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our class, we build social-emotional skills that our students will be able to use for the rest of their lives. We make it a priority to ensure that our students have the tools and supports that they need to regulate their emotions. We do this through our Calm Down Corner which is an area in the classroom where our students can go if they are upset or disregulated.
We will use the sensory tools such as the weighted stuffed animal and sensory tubes in the Calm Down Corner with our students.
The materials in this project will help our students grow lifelong social-emotional skills! The sensory tubes and weighted stuffed animal will help students calm down when they are upset. The fidget tracks, flick sticks, and sensory sand will be used to help students who are easily distracted focus. The sensory book will teach our students social-emotional strategies that they can use independently or will a friend.
