My Project

I have taken professional development courses to learn ways to implement social emotional learning (SEL) in my class. I teach students with disabilities, and they often have issues with self-esteem, behavior, and some come with emotional trauma. I have learned that through SEL and art therapy, students can become in tune with their emotions, they can express their feelings, and the creativity of art builds self-esteem.

I would like to have the art supplies, Cricut Joy, and printer to give my students more opportunities to grow in their knowledge, confidence, and abilities to create.

The Cricut Joy is needed to allow my students to make their own stickers. They love stickers, and having the ability to create their own will bring them... well, joy! Weeding out the unnecessary parts of the stickers will help them build focus to detail and on-task stamina. They will also need to use technology to design and create their stickers.

I would like to have the printer, as my students need much more practice doing most tasks, so I make additional or similar copies for them to have extra practice. It will also allow me to print art work or templates for my students to use during SEL. I bought the printer that I have now years ago, and it is not working well anymore. I am continually buying ink for it, so I think having a printer with an EcoTank will be much more cost effective. The markers, paper, and other supplies are necessary for the students to create during the art lessons.

The SEL and art lessons we have done so far have helped my students become more engaged across the curriculum. I hope you will support my students to continue to grow their skills as they enjoy the lessons. Thanks!
