Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The topics of the books being requested were specifically chosen by students who participated in our last Book Giveaway. These titles will give students a chance to practice reading with texts they are interested in.

During this project older students will be paired up with younger students to act as reading mentors.

During our final, of three Book Giveaways, this school year, older students will help younger students select a "Good Fit" book that they will get to keep. Both students will then spend some time together reading and building relationships.

The special thing about our school is that we are transitioning from a 3-5 grade level school to a 4-8 grade school. The goal of this project is to foster positive relationships between older and younger students in our unique school community. This project serves two main purposes. One is to build school community and the second is to instill a love a reading in our students.
