Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students' area is a wonderful mixture of diversity. The school is in an urban setting and is majority African American and Latino. Ninety-seven percent of the student population receives free or reduced-price lunch and their test scores fall far below the state average.

I am a new teacher and want to help bring these students all that they deserve!

I am so looking forward to being a difference to these students and you can help me make that happen for them.

My Project

My students come from a school that is minority based, yet the books I have for them to read do not represent that. I want to ensure that my students can see themselves in the literacy that they read. We are requesting books whose characters reflect my students and their lives.

With all that is going on in society right now, I want to give my students pride in who they are.

Please help me in purchasing these books so that I can show them that they do matter. Allowing my young students to build their strengths now will make them even more successful in the future.
