About My Students

My students represent a group of young individuals with varied abilities and a variety of learning needs. They come together daily from all over our city. My students show a great deal of passion and are motivated by educational opportunities that are practical to their lives and relevant to their interests. This school year, we are working hard to develop our critical thinking skills and begin to work toward building pragmatic solutions to challenges in our daily lives.

Our students will have the opportunity to participate in team-building activities, develop their hand-eye coordination, and learn to support one another in competitive play by building a lunchtime athletic league. This is especially important for our student population as many of our students are classified with 'emotional disturbance,' meaning that these skills are crucial to their general development and their overall academic and extracurricular success.

In Their Own Words

Our school would like to have more basketballs and footballs so that we can get more kids involved in physical activities at the same time by creating a lunchtime athletic league. This added sports equipment will ensure that all of our students get more physical fitness and that they learn to work together as a team.

My teacher and I will be asking fellow teachers, parents and our community members to help contribute to our campaign through Donors Choose. We will send emails to parents and teachers and put up flyers in our community so that everyone knows what resources our school needs and how to help us get them. In addition, my classmates and I will model what it means to be a leader, while setting positive examples for our teammates.

I am writing this project to help the kids who like to play sports but they can't because there are not enough footballs and basketballs for everyone to play. This project will help students develop the skill to learn with teamwork. Finally, it will help students stay active and healthy.
