My students are inquisitive, dedicated and unique children with incredibly bright personalities.
They greet each day with smiles even though they face challenges such as auditory processing, articulation delays, autism, and language disorders. Each time I introduce a new book they beam with excitement and show such an appreciation for the new story we get to explore together.
My Project
I have created and purchased companion lessons to accompany a select number of children's stories. However, I am missing a critical piece to the lesson - the books themselves! We will use these books to learn speech/language skills including comparing/contrasting, sound production, descriptive vocabulary, following directions, figurative language, and social skills. These support their classroom learning goals to learn content, answer questions, and share their thoughts with peers. Stories like "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" will also be used to support classroom interventions. It all begins with the imagination and artistry in these literacy selections.
This hand-picked selection of books will help me as I teach my students critical social, articulation, memory, and language skills to give them the tools to become confident communicators.
