Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My incoming 8th grade students are part of a culturally diverse K-8 Title I school in Brooklyn, NY. For my incoming 8th grade students the 2020-2021 school year will be their first exposure to being taught a second language in an academic setting.

My Project

Through your generous donations I will be able to analyze different Spanish textbooks not only to find which textbook series would benefit my students the most but also to adapt a curriculum for my students to learn the Spanish Language in fun and innovative ways for both synchronous and asynchronous learning.

I will be able to start a Spanish library where our students can explore the Spanish language with titles they are familiar with such as Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Charlotte's Web, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach, The Giving Tree, The Snowy Day, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, as well as other titles that will enhance Spanish topics they will be learning about including food, culture, weather, and geography.

These titles will be read to the students through virtual meets and scanned for their enjoyment as they are learning spanish vocabulary and cognates of the Spanish language.
