Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate enough to spend my day with fourth grade learners, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, dreamers, thinkers, and changemakers. These fourth graders push themselves to accomplish challenging goals, think critically across multiple perspectives to craft informed opinions, and collaborate to solve problems in creative and flexible ways. Our classroom community deeply values the importance of justice, literacy, and empathy to make our mark on our world.

They are the embodiment of being the change they wish to see in the world.

Their deep thinking and unique perspectives inspire me everyday.

My Project

Reading Workshop is our special time of day when we curl up with a good book, work on our reading goals, and challenge ourselves as readers. Without fail, they always ask for just five more minutes when I bring workshop to a close! As a result, our classroom library is one of our favorite places. All of our books have been collected with my students' identities and interests in mind and the goal of developing a love and life of reading.

With these new books, our library will grow in quality and quantity, and it will allow students to select stories that will make them laugh, wonder, question, and grow.
